Monday Motivation (I am feeling it)

Hi Guys!!!

So last week i felt like i failed miserably achieving the goals i set, its not that i didn’t manage to do any if it, but not as much as i would have liked, and i really did feel a huge sense of disappointment in myself!! Saying that, after i wrote my weekly review  it occurred to me that i was possibly a little hard on myself, the act of setting goals and having the desire and drive to stick to them really does say a lot and gives me some sort of purpose in this Post IVF world i now find myself in, so despite being, at first, pretty down about not doing what i set out to, i think the fact i sat down and rationalised it all is for sure a step in the right direction, and in truth, my anxiety has got so much better since starting these weekly goals, and the blog in general and it has really given me some new motivation!

Advice alert******

If you struggle with anxiety, depression, find it hard to get motivated to make life just a little bit more positive..or like me… have a huge IVF shaped hole in your life, i really would suggest setting yourself a Goal every week, it doesn’t matter how teeny tiny it is, or even how gigantic.. it really is worth doing, if i inspire just one of you to do so, you would make me on happy lady.. and don’t forget to let me know how you get on in the comments!!!  (there’s some Monday Motivation right there for you)

It hasn’t just been the act of writing the blog that has been positive for me, i have connected with some fab people through my blog in the last couple of weeks, both on WordPress and via Twitter, and there is a great sense of community out there that i am exited to start getting involved in, the longer i am doing it for the more i am getting to know everyone and it really is a pleasure! (i know some of you guys have known each other FOREVER and i have a long way to go!)

My favourite people/blogs so far are,

Infertility and life – such a lovely lady, and so open and honest about her journey through IVF

Sliding Doors – from the other side of the world, but i can relate to so much!!

Bellezza Corner – so easy to read this blog and covers so many topics to make you feel awesome!

If you haven’t already, you really should go and check them out!!

I am also really loving some other lifestyle blogs but i don’t feel like i have read enough to suggest them to others yet (or really know what i am talking about!?)

It does however, seem i am somehow mostly connecting with Female bloggers at the moment, and it got me thinking, is this because my blog is about fertility and that is seen as a mostly female world, if it is then it really needs to change, we really need to get people talking about fertility more, the more we are open about it, the more we can help people get the treatment and support they need!

I would love to get chatting to some Men that are having fertility issues or who are supporting Ladies through infertility, i would love to pick your brains about a project i have lined up soon PLEASE GET IN TOUCH!!!

It’s time for another Weekly goal;

So this week, i am going to carry on with speaking to fertility charities and the like to see where i can get involved, and i am going to make more of an effort to sit down and spend time colouring in each night, but it is actually last weeks goal that got me thinking about this weeks… most of my colouring books have the word ‘mindfulness’ written on, it sounds like a great term, i have come to the *uneducated* conclusion that it will help make your mind wander and relax, which i find when i use these books, but what is Mindfulness and could it be helpful for my anxiety and to help focus my mind on what i want and need for the future?

So with all that in mind, this week..

Goal number three ; to learn about something new (mindfulness), and write an informative post so others can gain information from what i find.

I am really looking forward to this one, i cant wait to find out about Mindfulness, what it really means and how it can help create a more positive Post IVF world and more importantly, share it with you guys to see what you think!!

Until next time…..

  1. I have taken a mindfulness for anxiety group. It was 8 weeks long. It really helped. However, mindfulness isn’t about letting your mind wander…it is about being completely present in the moment. Hard to explain in a short comment, but I totally recommend it!

      1. There are many books, but you can also find guided mindfulness meditations on You Tube. This way you can decide if you like it or not. It isn’t for everyone but like I said earlier, I found it to be a great help for my anxiety!

  2. OMG!! I can’t believe you mentioned me, I’m so overwhelmed – thank you so much!! That really means a lot to me 💕 I’m really enjoying reading about your goals, I did just want to say though – don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t quite complete one, don’t beat yourself over the head with it! I think what you’re trying to achieve and what you’re doing is wonderful. On Mindfulness – I use an app called Headspace, which is a meditation app. Not sure if it’s something you’d be interested in, but I find the chaps voice really soothing. I literally do 10 minutes before I get up and it sets me up right for the day. You do 3 sets of foundation level to learn the techniques (it’s so easy to follow), then you can chose loads of topics like anxiety etc. It is very good (although there is a subscription to open up some of the packages). Anyway, just wanted to throw that out there to you. Keep up the good work 👍 take care xxx
